A TEAM AT THE SERVICE OF TEXTILE COMPANIES IN THE MIDI- PYRENEES

The Union des Industries Textiles Sud - Union of Textiles Industries in the South (UIT Sud), the Economic Development Agencies of the Ariège and Tarn departments,(Ariège Expansionand Agate), and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Castres Mazamet and Foix have been the driving force behind the Local Production System (S.P.L.) "Pays d’Olmes-Montagne Noire" since 2001, when it was first accredited by DATAR.

The network has quickly grown to include such partners as the French Institute for Clothing Textiles - l’Institut Français Textile Habillement (IFTH), the training organisation FORTEX , FORTHAC (south delegation, branch OPCA) and the association CREALAINE (association of industrialists of the textiles sector in the Midi-Pyrenees).

The support of many sources of expertise enables the LPS to strengthen its activities. One such organisation is Midi-Pyrénées Innovation (MPI), a new player in the region, whose mission is to facilitate innovative projects and offers the services of a materials engineer.

The LPS action plan is in the form of a 3 year contract between the state (DRIRE) and the Midi-Pyrenees Regional Council in the context of a convention that embraces a number of collective projects (2007-2009).
